Hi, I’m Hannah.
I spent years searching for a cat tree for my 23lb maine coon, Tubes. He prefers a taller tree so he can look out the window. But every store-bought option bent or broke under his weight. So during covid, my husband Mike and I decided to build our own. We wanted something that was sturdy and looked good in our home. We built a few prototypes, and our friends started asking if we could make more. That’s when we realized other people might want one too and launched Katpole.

Fulfillment
Each Katpole is currently made to order because of the large number of customizations. We also pack each order individually to ensure you receive the correct components for your ceiling height.
This means after you place your order, it will take 60-90 days for you to recieve your custom Katpole.
Installation
No! Your Katpole will come with the required tools, including a wrench and gloves. We do recommend having a step ladder or a stool that can help you reach the ceiling. If you have ever changed the light bulbs around your house, you’ll most likely be able to install Katpole yourself.
You could do the whole thing by yourself. However, it will be much faster if you have a friend to help you. When setting up the top part of your Katpole, stand on a stool and get them to pass you the pieces so you don’t have to climb up and down.
You must have a flat ceiling because the ceiling hardware require a flat surface to create sufficient tension. This means vaulted, dome, coved, cathedral, shed/sloped ceilings, are not supported unless you have a flat area of at least 1 square feet (30 cm2). Popcorn ceilings are okay. Please also note the ceiling height requirements below.
Your ceiling height must be between 7 ft 5 inches to 9 ft 5 inches and flat. This covers the vast majority of residential ceilings around the world. Standard ceiling height in North America is 8 feet.
Yes, Katpole is perfect if you’re renting because it’s super easy to take apart and it doesn’t leave any marks on the ceiling or walls. It’s held to the ceiling by tension alone (no screws).
Safety
Yes. We recommend removing the bottom level of platforms so that babies and toddlers cannot climb Katpole. You also have the ceiling and floor stabilizers to prevent Katpole from falling over even if someone knocks into it.
Yes! Katpole is the best cat tree for these types of cats because you can arrange the platforms to serve as stairs, meaning your cats will never have to jump to reach the top. They can easily climb up or down.
No! Katpole is designed as a full aluminum tension pole. Therefore, the entire structure requires no permanent attachments to your floor or ceiling. We also made sure it’s easy to take apart and repack so you can take it with you if you move.
Theoretically, 24 cats can be on Katpole at a time. That’s if you put 10 platforms and 2 hammocks (the max number of modules Katpole can have). However, we recommend having at least 1 hammock per cat for your peace and quiet. And if you actually manage to put 24 cats on your Katpole please send us a video and we will give you $500.
The platforms and hammock will easily support even the largest domestic cat breeds, such as Maine Coons. Even two Maine Coons on a single platform would be supported. However, the platforms are designed for cats, and for safety reasons, we do not recommend more than 40lb per platform.
