(Better with sound)

Step 1.

Please check if you have all the following parts in your package.

If you are missing parts, please contact us using the button below.

Step 2.

Starting with the wooden base, build the pole, adding platforms and hammocks as you go.

Have your partner hold a platform while you attach the next pole section. Carefully turn clockwise to tighten. Make sure it's going in straight so as to not strip the threads. Continue to hand tighten until you can no longer turn it clockwise.

For a final tightening of each section as you move up, have your partner hold the pole section you just completed while you use both hands to get a small final twist on the new section.

Do not use tools to tighten any of the poles as excessive force will strip the threads.

Before adding your final pole section (closest to the ceiling), see step 3.

Step 3.

Place the metal washer (included in a small plastic bag in your Tools & Instructions box) on the ceiling bolt.

Insert the ceiling bolt into your final pole section and leave enough of it extended so that when you attach that pole section to the Katpole, there will be about 2" of space between the bolt and your ceiling.

Then slide in the wooden ceiling support piece. The four rubber anti-slip pads of the ceiling support should be facing your ceiling.

Hand rotate the adjustable bolt until the ceiling support touches your ceiling. Use the included wrench to tighten the top-most nut slowly. Do not overtighten as this may damage your ceiling.

Ask your partner to step back and check that the pole is straight.

Finally, use the wrench to tighten the bottom hex nut.

Check stability by asking your partner to shake the pole - if the floor base or ceiling support moves, then you should tighten further. The pole will never be perfectly rigid, and some flex in the middle pole sections is normal.

Step 4.

All platform carpets can be easily attached via 6 clip-in buttons. Pole carpets are attached by velcro.
Please note that the pole carpet size will match the pole length.

Step 5.

We strongly recommend doing these safety checks once a month.

1) Visually inspect the pole is straight. The angle of the pole should be 90 degrees relative to the floor and ceiling.
2) Use medium force and shake the pole while your cat(s) are off. Ensure the floor and ceiling supports do not move! Tighten the ceiling bolt if there is movement.

Safety FAQ

Q. My pole and platforms are shaky? What should I do?

There will always be some degree of flex of the pole, this is normal. HOWEVER, please ensure the floor base and ceiling support STAYS IN PLACE if you shake the pole with some force. As long as the top and bottom pieces do not move, the entire structure will be secure. If the floor or ceiling piece moves, you must tighten the nut for the ceiling support or make sure the bottom pole is properly screwed into the floor base. Q. Can I let my dogs climb the pole?

No! Please do not let your dogs climb the pole. This item is only designed for cats. Dogs can be injured if they fall from high places.

Q. Do I need to train my cats to use the pole?

Most cats will naturally know how to use the pole. They will typically try to climb up to the highest point by themselves. Some cats will be content with a lower position platform, this depends on your cat's personality. Some cats may require some small incentive to climb up in the beginning. You can try placing a few treats at different levels of the pole to incentivize them to explore 🙂

Q. My toddler is climbing the pole, what should i do?

Please fence off or take apart the pole if your toddler is attempting to climb it. This can lead to serious injuries as the pole extends all the way to the ceiling. The pole was designed to support cats only.
